STAFF

Bruce Burkland, M.A., LMFT. Director
Bruce has worked for Red Top Meadows and its parent organization, Teton Youth and Family Services, since 1979. He began as the Family Therapist at the Van Vleck House and then became the Director at Red Top in 1985. He has worked with troubled adolescents since he received his M.A. in Family Therapy from the University of Connecticut in 1976. Bruce is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and became a clinical member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists in 1980.

Mark Ames, CMHW, Program Director

Mark has been working at Red Top since 1981 and has many years of experience providing direct care, instructing, supervising and directing the therapeutic wilderness programs andthe daily living experience at Red Top. In addition to his degree in Outdoor Education from the University of Oregon, Mark has been involved with NOLS, Outward Bound, Project Adventure and AEE as part of his professional development.

Dick Lundeen, CMHW, Program Therapist
Prior to coming to Red Top in 1982, Dick received a BA in Psychology from the University of Minnesota and had five years of training and experience as a mental health worker. Dick has many years of experience working with adolescents in individual, group and family settings

Jeremy Silcox, MSW, LCSW, Program Therapist
Jeremy started working for Teton Youth and Family Services as a child care worker at the Van Vleck Group Home in 1993. Since then he has held various positions at the Van Vleck House and Red Top including child care supervisor, wilderness trip leader and therapist.Jeremy received his MSW from the University of Wyoming in 2001.

Kelsey Lewis, M.A., Education Director
Since receiving her Master’s in Curriculum and Special Education from Columbia Teachers’ College she has taught at the Pingry School in N.J., Stephen Gayner School in N.Y.C. , instructed for Central Wyoming College and conducted a private practice for learning disabilities. Kelsey started her job at Red Top in 2006.

Child Care Staff

Red Top child care staff are active in all components of the program. They supervise daily living as well as work in the school and on wilderness trips. They receive 80 hours of annual training and regular direct supervision. Topics covered annually include but are not limited to:

  • Professional ethics and conduct
  • Solution based treatment approaches
  • Understanding affects of trauma on child development
  • Mandt system of crisis management
  • Emergency procedures
  • Wilderness education curriculum
  • Wilderness First aid and CPR refreshers
  • Medication policies and procedures
  • Crisis management and suicide prevention
  • Parenting and childcare skills
